What is LeetCode?

LeetCode is a term I’ve been hearing a lot lately, and maybe it’s because I’ve gotten more into coding recently. Before coding, I really had no idea what LeetCode was, until someone mentioned it to me. LeetCode is a platform that allows you to better your coding skills so you can better prepare for interviews. But, is it really necessary?

LeetCode was founded in 2015 from headquarters in San Diego, California. The website has over 2,350 questions for you to practice, and users can participate in contests and challenges to earn rewards. These problems can take anywhere from a few months to a year.

The cool thing about LeetCode is that you can choose from many different programming concepts. LeetCode supports languages such as C++, Python, Ruby, MySQL, and JavaScript. There are also community discussion boards that allows you to talk to other members in the tech community and gaining insight on how to solve problems.

The biggest advantage of LeetCode is that it sets you up for the technical portion of the interviews. The coding interview process is difficult, but LeetCode cultivates questions that you could possibly see in during your interview process. LeetCode establishes questions that may actually appear in you interview process, so you can be prepared to answer basically any technical question that comes your way.

If you are a beginner, LeetCode might not be worth the money. There are free alternatives, such as Codility, that offer a similar concept of practice problems. Something else you can do prior to LeetCode is getting a better understanding of what LeetCode is. Some resources include Cracking the Coding Interview and GeeksforGeeks.

LeetCode might be good for the technical interview, but that is just one part of the hiring process. Your resume and experiences are also equally as important, so it’s important to keep those well prepared also. I hope this article was insightful, and I hope to see you in the next article!

Stay sweet,

Ravjot
