Should you follow fads in IT ? I’d argue both yes and no. The reason is really simple: if you don’t understand the nature of fads, then there’s no way for you to break away from it or conversely, decide that that “thing” you’ve been obsessed about isn’t really a craze everybody’s talking about. The only way to understand them is probably to dwell into it for a while and try to understand it … and the hardest thing is to distance yourself from it for the purpose of analyzing it and diving in again to discover some more.
