Election day is rapidly approaching. It’s time to start making some serious noise — let’s make sure everybody knows about all the different democracy reforms that will be on the ballot in November! Encourage all your friends to share this important information, and most of all, VOTE!

Here’s a breakdown:

Berkeley, CA: Measure X1 creates a voluntary system of publicly funded elections. Candidates with broad support who refuse money from special-interest PACs and accept only small contributions — $50 or less — receive a limited amount of matching funds.

California: Prop 59 supports a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and other related Supreme Court cases.

Colorado: Initiative 71 would make it very expensive and difficult to get an initiative on the ballot. A legislative option must remain accessible to We The People.

Howard County, MD: Building on the successful campaign to create a small donor matching program in Montgomery County in the fall of 2014, the Fair Elections Maryland coalition is working to enact a similar program in Howard County by passing Question A.

Maine: Question 5 in Maine would give voters more voice and more choice by instituting a system of ranked-choice voting.

Missouri: Amendment 6 would require Missourians to provide an ID to vote. This is a regressive policy aimed at silencing the voices of voters.

Multnomah County, Oregon: Measure 26–184 limits campaign contributions and requires disclosure of top contributors to political ads.

South Dakota: Initiative Measure-22 stops unlimited gifts from lobbyists to politicians; requires more transparency; and toughens ethics law enforcement to investigate lobbyists and politicians for breaking the rules.

Washington: Washington’s Initiative 735 calls for a constitutional amendment to overturn Supreme Court cases such as Citizens United. If passed, Washington would become the 18th state to call for such an amendment.

Washington: Initiative 1464 increases transparency & accountability; enacts limits on the influence of money in politics by prohibiting large campaign contributions from lobbyists and public contractors; and closes the revolving door between Capitol Hill and the lobbying industry.
