Michael Caputo: Intelligence Committee Probe is “Just A Rigged Game”

Michael Caputo is determined to set the record straight after Representative Jackie Speier, D-California, implied in an open session televised on March 20th, 2017, that Mr. Caputo and his wife have ties to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin. Caputo says Speier’s allegations are false; furthermore, he claims his family was demonized and threatened within minutes of these comments made by Rep. Jackie Speier:
“And then in 2000, he worked with Gazprom-Media to improve Putin’s image in the United States,” Speier said. “So I guess my question is, what possible reason is there for the Trump campaign to hire Putin’s image consultant?”
Caputo moved to Russia a few years after the Soviet Union collapsed. He says he assisted the Russian government in crafting more open election laws under U.S. President, Bill Clinton. Caputo also advised the successful re-election campaign of then-Russian President Boris Yeltsin.
Michael published his opening statements with the Intel Committee on his blog, Politics NY. Caputo contends that after he was publicly berated by Rep. Speier, his attorney encouraged the Intelligence Committee to allow Mr. Caputo to testify in an open session. While the committee would hear his testimony, Caputo says it would only do so in a closed-door, private session. Mr. Caputo relays that two Republicans and two Democrats attended the session. On Friday, Caputo stated during an interview with Alex Jones that Rep. Speier “couldn’t be bothered to attend.”
Meanwhile, Jackie Speier continued to speak negatively about Mr. Caputo to mainstream media outlets. Michael says that neither party had access to the transcript of his testimony, and that Speier did not attend; therefore, he maintains that Speier’s comments about him and his family are speculation and possibly a violation of Congressional Ethics.
“It was scheduled at the last minute on a Friday when I had to get back to give a speech and do a town hall in my district,” Jackie Speier claimed. “But from what I understand, Mr. Caputo has a number of questions that he’s going to have to answer because it appears that he may have actually lied.”
Michael Caputo’s advice to others in the same situation? “Stay away from the closed hearing. It’s really just a rigged game.” Mr. Caputo continues, “I can’t see how this is fair at all… The only way to get my reputation back is to reveal that testimony in its entirety, and have Mrs. Speier point to the section where she thinks I lied.”
