A Quartet of Hope, Failures, Tears & Ah-Has
America was founded on the dreams and failures of those who came before us.
It’s a lesson learned at school and home; a consistent reminder that,
“You can be anything you want to be”.
This is a fundamental truth, on paper that is; however, in practice, it requires more from you than just to dream.
Colin Powell said it best,
“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”
Cinderella had a dream of attending the royal ball, but it took magic to transform it into a possibility.
Unfortunately, in the real world, a fairy godmother isn’t beckoned from a tear drop or domestic hardships.
Instead we are left with something more real and concrete; a governance of our own self-determination and strength.
A state in which is more hopeful and powerful than the mere “wishing upon a star” tactic.
Now don’t get me wrong, I believe in the presence of “luck” or “miracles” and the role they can play in making dreams a reality.
I wouldn’t be honest if I downplayed its presence within my own life but that’s not the point.
So what is?
The Point is Simple…
“Living the Dream” doesn’t magically appear from thin air but rather from an idea of hope — grounded upon creating something new.
Countless attempts and failures — like a song that never ends.
Numerous days and nights of tears and self-doubt — moments when ‘greener pastures’ makes sense.
A knowledge of accomplishment when hard work pays off, becomes an ah-ha moment.
Proving your ‘worth’ to your hardest critic — yourself.
What have you experienced while “Living the Dream”?
