Open Letter to Ex-Yelp Employee
I pay $105 doctor visit. I also pay $335.15/mon for health insurance. I pay nearly full price for prescriptions. I pass on one that is $680. I would LOVE to only pay $20, this should not be taken for granted! Doctors spend upwards of $200,000 and 9–15 years on education and training before they get to have a private practice and you want to grip about giving them $20 for their professional service? Do you pay your plumber $20? An electrician? A mechanic?
When I started out, I shared a 300sf room with a roommate. I ate plain bagels, Campbell’s soup (the small, cheap cans) & McDonalds cheeseburgers (the little cheap ones). I didn’t have cable, cell phone or internet. These are not required to “survive”. I shopped for clothes at thrift shops and clearance sales.
I still shop mostly in the clearance section. I don’t spend beyond my means. If I can’t pay for it at the end of the month, I don’t put it on my credit card.
Even at minimum wage jobs I always smiled and gave it my all, which was worth more than minimum wage. But when you first start out, that’s all you’re going to get. You live with it and you do your best and you keep a positive attitude and you will move up whether it be in the same company or a new company. People recognize hard work and a good attitude and that is what is rewarded.
Whining is not rewarded. It might get you sympathy, but sympathy doesn’t pay the bills. Sympathy doesn’t get a nice house or a nice car. The common denominator among success people is hard work and positive attitude. I see a bright future for you. The choice is yours.
