The first lady is definitely allowed to root for her country. She and the POTUS can express all the pride they want! (Obviously they're allowed to express whatever they want, but just saying that I'm totally on board with expressing pride/rooting for the country they lead.) :-)

I also think you've totally hit the nail on the head in bringing up the diversity of this large country; that definitely makes problems much more complex.

And yes, we have made incredible progress—the USA is great! I was simply pointing out the large difference between saying the USA is the greatest country in the world and saying the USA is a great country.

Looking forward to seeing this great nation continue to progress!
