We are thrilled to announce that the community sale for the $RBLS governance token will go live on February 19th, 2022 at 12 pm CET and will last for one week on the Rebel Bots website.

You can buy $RBLS tokens in the community sale using $MATIC on the Polygon/Matic network (also uses $MATIC tokens for gas fees).

In this tutorial, we will cover:

  1. How to setup your wallet (skip if you have one already).
  2. How to add the Polygon/Matic Mainnet network.
  3. Two methods to fund your Wallet with $MATIC on the Matic network for the $RBLS sale.
  4. Optional: How to add ETH (wrapped ETH on Polygon) to your wallet assets (if you sent ETH instead of $MATIC)
  5. Optional: How to obtain $MATIC for gas fees (if you run out at any time)

You will need to complete these steps to participate in the community token sale. The two methods for loading $MATIC into your wallet on Matic Mainnet include:

  • Using Decentralized Web3 Wallet to Bridge Funds to Polygon from other blockchains, or
  • Using Centralized Exchanges to Send Funds to your wallet on the Polygon network

When you send funds to your wallet on the Matic network (via a Bridge or exchange) it is recommended to send a small extra amount (e.g. $5 or equivalent) to pay for future gas fees on the Matic network.

STAGE 1: Setup a Decentralized Wallet (skip if you already have one)

MetaMask is the most popular Web3 Wallet to execute direct swaps between Ether, ERC-20 tokens, and ERC-721 tokens (NFTs) so will be used as the example. Here you will understand how to set up your MetaMask but methods for other wallets will be similar.

Step 1: Download & Install the ‘MetaMask Extension’ from the official website.

Step 2: Add the extension to your browser.

Note: MetaMask Extension is available on multiple browsers including Brave, Chrome, Firefox, & Edge.

Step 3: After installing the extension, you will find the MetaMask extension on the top right corner of your browser (or in extensions — you can then pin it to your browser).

Step 4: After adding the extension, it will ask if you want to import your existing wallet through Secret Recovery Phrase or if you want to create a new wallet and a Secret Recovery Phrase.

If you want to create a new one, click on the ‘Create a Wallet’ button.

Step 5: You will be redirected to a new screen where MetaMask will provide you with a brief understanding of how it will make use of the users’ data. Click on the I Agree button once you have inspected the details.

Step 6: After agreeing to the above, you will be requested to Create Password for your wallet. Once you are done with setting up the password, check the Terms of Use’ and click on the Create button.

Step 7: After completing the above step, you will see a short video tutorial on how to secure your wallet. Click on the Next button after checking out the video.

Step 8: Now it is time to note down your ‘Secret Recovery Phase’. You will view a screen that will reflect your ‘Secret Recovery Phase’. Remember to save this Recovery Phase in a password manager such as 1Password. Once done, then click on the Next button.

Note: Always ensure that you never disclose these ‘Secret Recovery Phase’ with anyone because it will easily allow anyone to steal your cryptocurrency and NFTs.

Step 9: Confirm your Secret Recovery Phrase by selecting each phrase in order from the provided options. Click on the Confirm button once done.

Step 10: After entering the Recovery Phrase, you’ll view a Congratulations screen. Click on the ‘All Done’ button to complete the setup.

STAGE 2: Connect your MetaMask Wallet to Matic Mainnet Network

You can easily connect your MetaMask wallet with the Polygon network (known as the Matic Mainnet) by following the steps outlined below:

Step 1: Launch your MetaMask extension, click on the Network dropdown, and select Add Network option from the list.

Step 2: Add a network page will appear where you will need to enter the following details

Step 3: Click on save and your wallet will be successfully connected to the Polygon network.

You can view and change to use the added network from the Networks dropdown.

STAGE 3: Fund your Wallet with MATIC/ETH on the Matic Mainnet

You have two options to fund your wallet — you can either bridge funds across from other blockchains (such as Ethereum or Binance Smart Chain), or you can send funds directly from certain centralized exchanges which have integrated the Matic mainnet.

Often bridging from Ethereum will be the most expensive option, and sending from exchanges or bridging from BSC will incur lower transfer fees. This tutorial will cover two options — Bridging from Ethereum as well as sending from an Exchange.

It will be fewer steps if you send $MATIC as you will already have the currency needed for gas fees and the sale. However if you prefer to send ETH or other compatible tokens (such as USDT, etc.) you will need to then convert them to $MATIC using a Matic DEX (such as Sushiswap or Quickswap) for which you will need a small amount of $MATIC for gas fees (from a faucet).

Funding Method 1: Using Decentralized Web3 Wallet to Bridge Funds to Polygon from Ethereum

This method presumes you already have $MATIC or a token compatible with the bridge in your wallet. To send/bridge $MATIC to the Matic Mainnet, you will need to bridge the tokens from the Ethereum network to the Polygon network. There are primarily two bridges on Polygon- the Proof of Stake (PoS) Bridge and the Plasma Bridge.

Using the Proof of Stake (PoS) Bridge is the recommended option for the users because the other bridge- Plasma sometimes takes up to a week to execute funds transfer. However, the PoS bridge consumes only 7–8 minutes only and for this purpose, we have explained the implementation steps for the same below. You will require ETH for bridging gas fees. ETH deposit shown in example instead of $MATIC.

Step 1: Navigate to wallet.polygon.technology

Step 2: Connect your crypto wallet. In this example, we will use MetaMask. You will be required to sign to connect.

Step 3: Select Polygon Bridge

You will be redirected to Polygon Wallet.

Step 4: Click on the Bridge from the left menu bar.

Step 5: Navigate to the Deposit tab for sending your tokens from the Ethereum mainnet to Polygon and select the token to bridge. In this example, we’ll use Ether but you will need $MATIC for the $RBLS token sale.

Enter the amount and click on the Transfer.

Step 6: Read to the important notes and click on Continue once done.

Step 7: You’ll view the estimated gas fee payable for this transaction. After checking the gas, click on the Continue.

Step 8: Review the transaction details and click on the Continue.

Step 9: You’ll be prompted to sign and confirm the gas fee payable. Click on the Confirm if all details are correct.

Wait for the transaction to get confirmed for the tokens to move from MetaMask to Polygon wallet. Ethereum transactions can take longer to complete based on the network congestion. To execute the transaction faster, you can increase the gas fees amount.

Step 10: Confirm and sign the transaction on the MetaMask and click on the Continue to complete the deposit.

Step 11: Once the transaction will be completed (may take up to 15 minutes), the token balance will reflect in your Metamask wallet on the Matic Mainnet network.

Funding Method 2: Send ETH or MATIC to Matic Mainnet wallet from a Centralized Exchange

After setting up your MetaMask wallet and connecting it with the Matic mainnet network, you will be able to view and copy the wallet address of your Matic address in MetaMask by selecting Matic Mainnet from the Network.

Now since you have the wallet address of your Matic Mainnet, you can use this to withdraw $MATIC or other compatible currencies (e.g. stablecoins) from centralized exchanges. Some exchanges only allow you to send MATIC tokens which is suitable for the $RBLS sale. Sending from a centralized exchange over the Matic Main net usually incurs low gas fees.

Irrespective of the centralized exchange you have selected (supporting Polygon network), you will need to first buy $MATIC or other compatible token. After that, you can proceed to withdrawal and enter your Matic Mainnet wallet address as a withdrawal address to send the funds.

IMPORTANT: Always remember to select the Matic/Polygon chain during withdrawal.

Once the withdrawal process is complete, you’ll find the funds reflected in your Polygon wallet and MetaMask (under Matic Mainnet).

You can check the step-by-step instructions to execute the withdrawal of funds to your Polygon wallet for different exchanges by referring to the following guides:

OPTIONAL STAGE 4: How to add ETH (wrapped ETH on Polygon) to your wallet assets

If you have sent ETH to the Polygon chain instead of $MATIC. it becomes wrapped ETH (wETH). In order to see if in your wallet you will need to add the token to your wallet.

In your metamask wallet, while on the Matic Mainnet and the Assets tab, click “Import Token” at the bottom of the wallet.

In the contract token address copy and paste:
0x7ceb23fd6bc0add59e62ac25578270cff1b9f619

It should autofill (or you can manually add) the symbol — WETH and the Token Decimals— 18.

Then click the ‘Add Custom Token’ button and then click ‘Import Token’.

Your WETH balance should now show in the wallet assets.

If you have sent WETH you will need to convert to $MATIC before the token sale and you may need gas to convert via a DEX — if so proceed to Stage 5.

OPTIONAL STAGE 5: Obtain $MATIC for gas fees

Ethereum has become increasingly expensive to use with high gas fees. Polygon generally has negligible gas fees as low as $0.0004. You must pay the gas fees in $MATIC tokens to execute the transactions at a low cost.

If you sent $MATIC from an exchange or over a bridge you already have all you need, but remember not to spend all your $MATIC on a transaction — save some for gas fees (e.g. $5 worth). If you don’t have any but need it to convert to $MATIC for the token sale, the easiest and cheapest way to get started with sending $MATIC tokens is faucets. The faucets are tools that offer a small amount of funds for free to help your on-boarding experience on a network seamless — usually enough to cover 1 or 2 transactions.

Follow the steps outlined below to send MATIC tokens to your Polygon wallet by using the faucet- https://matic.supply/. Please note that this faucet sends 0.0005 MATIC and you can use it up to 3 times a day, which is enough to cover several gas fees.

Step 1: Navigate to the https://matic.supply/ and click on Connect.

Step 2: Connect your MetaMask wallet.

Step 3: Select your MetaMask account from the list to which you want to establish a wallet connection and click on the Next.

Note: Please ensure to select Matic Mainnet in your MetaMask.

Polygon wallet will request to view the address of your permitted account to establish the connection. Click on Connect to proceed.

Step 4: Click on Receive to claim your free MATIC tokens.

You will view a confirmation flash message on the top-right corner of the page and the URL of Polygon block explorer to view all the details of the executed transaction.

You will view the $MATIC balance in your MetaMask wallet and Polygon Wallet

If the faucet does not work, you can use the faucet request in the Polygon Discord.

Once you have a small amount of $MATIC from the faucet it is recommended to convert a small amount of your ETH or other crypto you sent (e.g. $5) into $MATIC to cover future gas fees for purchases, swaps and claiming. You can do this on Matic DEXs including SushiSwap and QuickSwap.

You have now funded your wallet ready for the $RBLS token sale!

On the day of the token sale (or during the 72 hour sale period) head to www.rebelbots.com/token.html and follow the instructions to complete your transaction using the funded wallet on the Matic Mainnet.

You will need to approve transactions similar to on Ethereum network, but transactions will be much cheaper and generally faster.
