you’ve got to make it easy for them. You’ve got to make it something that they can actually do, without taking up too much of their time. You’ve got to give them the chance to be useful in the limited time and with the limited resources that they’ve got.

Great advice. I get numerous messages from people who want to “pick my brain” and I have a similar reaction when I read it. I’m much more likely to offer answers to direct questions because as you put it — it provides me with an opportunity to provide value to this person without costing myself too much valuable time.
