I Don’t Like Resolutions, But I Still Have Some
I have never been a fan of New Year’s resolutions. I kept telling myself that I could only fail anyway. But I’ve made up my mind: If I have no resolutions, I won’t fail at any, but I also won’t achieve any. If I do have resolutions, I can of course fail, but chances are that I will achieve them.
When I started writing my list of aims and resolutions for 2016, I realised they were too many for one single blog post, so I decided to break them up. In the next few days, I will post my personal resolutions, my goals in blogging and those in writing separately. So let’s start with the presonal ones.

1) Eat Healthier
I’ve never been much concerned about what I eat. Now that I’m starting to take my dancing seriously though, I probably should. I have to say that I’ve got wonderful genes: I can eat whatever I like and it never “shows”. However, I realised that I do feel and perform better when I eat clean, so I’m going to make this one of my top priorities this year.
2) Read More (Way More!)
Since I have to read so much for university, I hardly ever read for my own pleasure, but I want to! I love reading and I think it’s one of the most inspiring activities ever, so I really want to build a proper reading habit, even if it’s just 15 minutes a day. Right now, I (finally!) started reading Harry Potter…
3) Walk More
This goes hand in hand with #1. Even though people might not think so when they see me in the dance studio, I’m an extremely lazy person. I would use the elevator for one floor or takie the tram to university although it’s just a ten minutes walk. Now that I have an office job, I ought to get some physical activity into my daily life, so I really want to break these lazy habbits!
4) Buy Less Stuff
I don’t know why, but I tend to buy random stuff which I don’t need at all. In spite of my being an environmentally conscious woman, I sometimes convince myself that I need this lovely notepad or that new iPad keyboard when I really don’t. In 2016, I want to think deeper before I buy stuff.
5) Stretch Every Day
But I hate stretching! Really, the only activity I hate more is jogging. But as with many things in dancing, stretching isn’t something you can do once a week and hope that you’ll get your leg over your head anyway. Flexibility needs conscious and continuous effort, preferably every day. And it’s just twenty minutes a day, I guess I can do that!
Are you the kind of person who makes resolutions for the new year? If so, what are they?
Happy new year again!
