#Digifest16: Quality Space for Innovation in Learning and Teaching with Technology

The Jisc Digifest 2016 was a brilliant event this year with some engaging keynotes and compelling presentations (and featured some of the best tech companies in education).

The two day event celebrated the power of digital — hence — RefME’s presence as an exhibitor. Held in Birmingham, England, from March 2–3, the event drew attendees from various roles within the academic, curriculum and technical support areas in UK higher and further education organisations. RefME was among approximately 30 other exhibitors on the floor who were ready to engage, demonstrate and speak about the power of digital technologies to several hundred delegates. Indeed Digifest was hugely important for RefME as we were able to have some real-time, face-to-face interactions with our institutional partners, tech partners and the academic community who currently use RefME. It was also wonderful to see some of our current TIP partners at the event as well.

One of the most interesting and thought provoking presentations came from Jisc themselves, who have been at the forefront of Learner Analytics. Through the amazing work of Michael Webb and Phil Richards on the architecture and predictability of learner analytics, along with Niall Sclater and Paul Bailey on Learner Analytics Data Ethics, they showed how Jisc are positioning themselves at the centre of the UK Learner Analytics developments. Watch this space for updates, as this exciting sector’s wide initiative gathers pace. Other fantastic presentations were from Sue Beckingham, Chrissie Nerantzi and Eric Stoller.

RefME enjoyed a constant flow of supporters, fans and curious walkers-by who had heard of RefME and wanted to see for themselves. Notable tweets from across the conference floor came from: @EricStoller, @jamesclay, @DebsMillar24,@suebecks and @sarahknight.
