David Mitchell, Slade House

Picked David Mitchell’s Slade House at random* from the La Grange Library’s new books collection and definitely enjoyed it. Fast moving, tightly written and fantastic enough that it was easy for me to escape into without worrying too much about the fate of individual characters. Woke to dreams about it one morning, which is unusual for me.

NPR — apparently the whole thing stated on Twitter!

Goodreads — apparently there’s a connection to another of his books.

*Actually, it’s probably more fair to say I judged the book by its cover. I’ve seen the movie adaptation of Cloud Atlas even if I’ve never read anything from Mitchell before. Also, the cover has a big square cut out of it, which I found curious and enjoyable.
