This week, Seattle Reign FC will be announcing its team awards for the 2016 season. The awards are voted on by the players and coaching staff at the club. Today, we announce the Golden Boot and Goal of the Year.

Golden Boot — Manon Melis, 7 goals

Melis’ first season with Reign FC garnered Offensive Player of the Year as well as leading the team with seven goals this season. After returning from injury, Melis was almost unstoppable. The forward scored four of her seven goals in the final five matches of the season, closing out an impressive first season in the NWSL.

Goal of the Year — Megan Rapinoe vs Portland Thorns FC on August 27th

Holding a slim 2–1 lead over rival Portland Thorns FC, Megan Rapinoe finished a breakaway goal to help Reign FC to their first victory over the Thorns this season. As a result, Rapinoe, the team, and the crowd erupted. This was Rapinoe’s first match back with the club after recovering from her ACL injury and her trip to the Rio Olympics, which made the moment even more memorable.
