This week, Seattle Reign FC will be announcing its team awards for the 2016 season. The awards are voted on by the players and coaching staff at the club. Today, we announce the team MVP and Unsung Hero.

Most Valuable Player — Kendall Fletcher

This season’s MVP is Kendall Fletcher, and it is the first time Fletcher has earned this honor. Fletcher started in every match for the club this season, and played 1,756 total minutes. As part of a record-setting defense, Fletcher helped lead the backline to set league records for most consecutive clean sheets with five, and most minutes without conceding at 531 minutes. Fletcher also had one goal this season, scoring in Seattle’s 5–2 win over the Orlando Pride on July 23rd.

Unsung Hero — Keelin Winters

Retaining her award from last season, Captain Keelin Winters has once again been named Reign FC’s Unsung Hero. Winters started all 20 matches this season, and, along with Fletcher, was one of four Reign FC players to log over 1,700 minutes on the pitch. While Winters only had one goal this season, it was perhaps one of the most important, keeping Reign FC in playoff contention until the final weekend of the regular season. After announcing her retirement at the end of the season, Winters scored in her final match at Memorial Stadium on September 11th.
