As the 2017 NWSL College Draft approaches, we’re taking a closer look at five of the top prospects in this year’s draft class. Up next, USC’s midfield leader: Morgan Andrews.

After beginning her collegiate career with Notre Dame, where she was named the 2013 ACC Freshman of the year, Andrews transferred to the University of Southern California after her sophomore season. In just two years for the Trojans Andrews scored 22 goals, good for 10th best in program history. She also holds the school record for consecutive games with multiple goals (3).

“We are excited to get such an extremely talented player to add to our roster,” said USC head coach Keidane McAlpine at the time of her transfer. “Through this process, I have been equally as impressed with her as a person. This is a win for the Trojans, but also a win for the Pac-12.”

In her senior season, Andrews showed why she is considered a top prospect in this year’s draft class, helping USC to its second NCAA National Championship in program history. As a result, Andrews was named a 2016 MAC Hermann finalist, becoming the first Trojan to earn the honor.

The midfielder has been a mainstay at the U.S. youth levels since 2008, when she made her debut with the U-14 Girls National Team. She captained the 2012 U-17 Women’s World Cup squad, and helped the U-20s win the 2014 CONCACAF Championship.

Andrews is known for her high soccer IQ, and has a history of showing up in big games. Her ability to bring a creative spark to any midfield has many noting Andrews as a talented prospect in the 2017 NWSL College Draft class.

In high school, Andrews was the kicker on her school’s football team and garnered All-State honors. Andrews once made a field goal from as far as 42 yards in a game.
