The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has announced Seattle Reign FC midfielder Jessica Fishlock is the NWSL Player of the Week for the second week of the 2017 season.

Fishlock played a big role in Seattle’s 5–1 victory over the Houston Dash, scoring the team’s first goal and providing the assist on the second.

Finding the back of the net in the 18th minute of the match, Fishlock’s goal came after a clearance deflected off Beverly Yanez, and Christine Nairn was able to control the ball. Nairn then laid the ball off for Fishlock who shot through traffic into the far corner of the net for her first goal of 2017.

Fishlock helped Reign FC double the score less than ten minutes later, providing the assist on Megan Rapinoe’s impressive Goal of the Week nominee.

This the 15th time a member of Reign FC has won Player of the Week, and it is the third time Fishlock has received the honor.

It is the second week in a row a Reign FC player has won the award, with Haley Kopmeyer earning the honor with her week one performance. Seattle and Portland Thorns FC are the only teams to have players win NWSL Player of the Week in consecutive weeks. It is the first time this has happened in the first two weeks of the season.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of media members that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.

Fishlock and Reign FC return to Memorial Stadium after a two-game road trip against Boston and Portland on Saturday, May 13th when they host the Washington Spirit. Single match tickets and VIP experience packages are available. To purchase tickets, visit reignfc.com/tickets or call the Reign FC ticket office at (855) REIGN-FC.
