The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) has announced that Seattle Reign FC forward Nahomi “Naho” Kawasumi is the NWSL Player of the Week. This is the fourth time Naho has been named Player of the Week, second most to only Crystal Dunn, who has won the award six times.

Naho set two NWSL records in her week five performance against the Washington Spirit on Saturday. Her four assists set a record for most assists in a single match, and the forward became the first player in league history to be directly involved in five goals in a match.

Assisting on goals by midfielder Christine Nairn in the 20th minute, forward Beverly Yanez in the 35th minute, forward Megan Rapinoe in the 71st minute and midfielder Lindsay Elston in the 79th minute, Naho also scored a goal of her own in the 68th minute.

This the 16th time a member of Reign FC has won Player of the Week, and the third season Naho has earned the honor. Naho is the third player to be voted NWSL Player of the Week in three separate seasons, joining teammate Jess Fishlock and Chicago Red Stars goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher.

It is the third time this season a Reign FC player has won the award, with Haley Kopmeyer earning the honor in week one and Jessica Fishlock winning in week two.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of media members that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.
