Seattle Reign FC has loaned midfielder Jess Fishlock to Olympique Lyon in France’s Division 1 Féminine. The loan is effective immediately and will continue until Lyon’s run in the 2018/2019 UEFA Women’s Champions League is complete.

Lyon are the defending Champions League winners, and currently hold the first seed in the tournament. The French club has won the last three Champions League finals and 12 straight Division 1 Féminine championships.

“Growing up in Europe it was always a dream to someday play in the Champions League — it is a magical competition. When I went on loan to Frankfurt in 2015 I got to enjoy the competition, but I had to return to the NWSL prior to the final. I feel very lucky to have the chance to return to the competition with Lyon and to hopefully have the chance to play in the final,” said Fishlock. “Seattle have been fantastic and have always supported me. I am extremely thankful to be part of such a tremendous organization. I cannot wait to get back to Seattle to work towards the title next season with the Reign.”

Fishlock is a Reign FC original, joining the club prior to its inaugural NWSL season in 2013. This season, she scored two goals and notched one assist during 1,543 regular season minutes. Fishlock’s efforts helped Reign FC go 11–5–8 and reach the NWSL Playoffs for the first time since 2015.
