Seattle Reign FC have signed defender Kristen McNabb for the 2017 NWSL season. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“I’m so excited to sign my first professional contract with the Reign,” said McNabb. “It’s truly a dream come true and I’m really looking forward to learning as much as I can from Laura, the coaching staff, and all of the players.”

McNabb was selected 37th overall in the fourth round by Reign FC during the 2017 NWSL College Draft in January. A University of Virginia alum, McNabb scored 13 goals and tallied three assists during her collegiate career. The defender helped the Cavaliers to the NCAA tournament all four years she played, including a National Championship appearance in 2014.

During her senior season, McNabb led a backline that posted 11 shutouts and allowed only 18 goals. She was named to All-ACC second team for her efforts. McNabb has also spent time with the U.S. Soccer youth national teams.

“I think Kristen has probably been the nicest surprise of preseason camp,” said Seattle Reign FC head coach and general manager Laura Harvey. “When you get to the fourth round in any college draft sometimes it’s the luck of the draw in terms of who you bring in. She has been the ultimate pro since day one in the way she manages herself, puts extra into training, and the amount of information she’s willing to take on. I think she’s exceeded her own expectations and I’ve been really happy with her performances. Every single day she’s getting better.”
