Seattle Reign FC announced today the club has acquired Australian international goalkeeper Lydia Williams from the Houston Dash in exchange for a second-round draft pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft. Seattle collected the draft pick from the Boston Breakers in a separate transaction.

Williams joined the Dash in 2016, where she finished the season with one clean sheet and 56 saves over 15 games. This season, Williams has started eight matches for the Dash totaling two clean sheets and 14 saves.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to bring in another goalkeeper,” said Seattle Reign FC head coach and general manager Laura Harvey. “Lydia has international experience and suits the way we like to play. I feel she can have an impact within the group both short term and long term.”

Internationally, Williams has 61 caps for Australia, most recently appearing in the 2017 Tournament of Nations. The goalkeeper helped Australia record their first-ever victory over the United States in a 1–0 shutout. Williams was also a part of Australia’s 2015 Women’s World Cup squad and 2016 Rio Olympics team.
