Seattle Reign FC announced today that defender Carson Pickett will compete with the Brisbane Roar FC of Australia’s W-League during the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) offseason.

“I am so excited to be playing for Brisbane Roar this offseason. The opportunity presented itself and at this point in my career I felt like it was the right choice,” said Pickett. “I wanted to go somewhere where I could gain more experience and travel, and this was the perfect opportunity to do both of those things. It will also be exciting to play my Reign teammates and be enemies for the day. I can’t wait for the season to begin. Go Roar!”

In her second season with Reign FC, this will be Pickett’s first offseason loan and her first stint in the W-League. During the 2017 NWSL season, Pickett made a career high 21 appearances for the club, totaling 1,869 minutes. The defender helped the Reign FC backline post three shutouts this year.

Pickett is currently out of contract with Reign FC and has been extended a new contract offer for the upcoming NWSL season.

Brisbane will open the W-League season this Thursday, October 26, when they face Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium in Sydney. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:20pm PT.
