Seattle Reign FC Forward Megan Rapinoe Named to NWSL Second XI

The National Women’s Soccer League announced Tuesday the Second XI selections for the 2017 NWSL season. Seattle Reign FC forward Megan Rapinoe was among the 11 players selected.

Rapinoe, who missed part of the season due to injury, finished third in the NWSL in goals scored with 12. The forward also set career bests in appearances, with 18, and minutes, with 1,522. During the course of the 2017 season, Rapinoe earned NWSL Player of the Week honors in weeks 11 and 14, and was named the NWSL Player of the Month for the month of July.

Reign FC have had a representative in the Second XI all five NWSL seasons. This marks the third time Rapinoe has been named to the Second XI, having also earned the honor in 2013 and 2015. All-time Reign FC have had eight different players named to the Second XI, tied with the Chicago Red Stars for second best in the NWSL.
