This week, Seattle Reign FC will be announcing its team awards for the 2017 season. The awards were voted on by the players and coaching staff at the club. Today, we announce the Golden Boot.

Golden Boot — Megan Rapinoe, 12 goals

Second in the National Women’s Soccer League in goals scored, and far and away Reign FC’s leading goalscorer, the Golden Boot goes to Megan Rapinoe for her outstanding 2017 season.

Rapinoe’s 12 goals is the second highest total for most goals in a single season by a Reign FC player, and the highest goal total for a Reign FC player since the 2014 season. The forward is just the second player in club history to score over 10 goals in a season. Rapinoe earned NWSL Player of the Week honors in weeks 11 and 14, and was named the NWSL Player of the Month for the month of July.

Throughout the course of the season, Rapinoe scored against every NWSL team but North Carolina, Orlando, and Boston. Rapinoe scored the most goals against Sky Blue FC, totaling four against the New Jersey side, and scored multiple goals against Portland and Chicago. Rapinoe scored in five of Reign FC’s eight victories this season.

Stay tuned the rest of the week as we continue to announce the 2017 Reign FC team award winners. Tomorrow we announce the Most Valuable Player and Unsung Hero of the 2017 NWSL season.
