Seattle Reign FC to Honor Five U.S. Navy Sailors

This Sunday, the 15th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Seattle Reign FC will honor five active-duty sailors serving the United States Navy in a ceremony prior to the match against the Washington Spirit. We recognize these individuals, and those they represent, as Seattle Reign FC Legends for their bravery, their service to our nation, and for their defense of the hard-fought freedoms we cherish.

“We are honored to be a part of the Seattle Reign FC Legends program that will recognize a few of the outstanding service members serving around the world in the armed forces,” said Roglenna “Missy” Anderson, Community Outreach Manager of Navy Region Northwest. “For us to be a part of this event on September 11th is an honor, because this day will forever be a part of the history of this country.”

Seattle Reign FC is proud to partner with the United States Navy to recognize the thousands of women serving in the armed forces at home and abroad, whose courage and commitment is an inspiration to us all.

“The staff and players of the Seattle Reign organization are making positive impacts on the lives of youth and young women, by teaching teamwork and how to overcome any obstacles brought before them,” said Anderson. “The U.S. Navy hopes to continue this collaboration to help make a difference in the community and the world.”

The Legends campaign is a partnership between Seattle Reign FC and Chihuly Studio. At each regular season game, Reign FC honors one woman (or in this case, a group of women) as a Seattle Reign FC Legend in recognition of their extraordinary contributions in our community and beyond. To celebrate the achievements of each Reign FC Legend, Dale Chihuly crafted the Reign Royal Blue Piccolo Venetian, which is symbolically presented to each Seattle Reign FC Legend.
