Seattle Reign FC today announced that the club has waived defender Maddie Bauer.

Bauer was drafted by Seattle with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft out of Stanford University. She appeared in five games as a rookie in 2017, making one start and logging 153 total minutes. In 2018, Bauer played 16 minutes in Seattle’s 3–2 road victory over Portland Thorns FC on May 5.

“I want to thank the entire Seattle Reign FC organization,” Bauer said. “I have learned a lot and made some incredible friends. I’m looking forward to gaining more experience and continuing my football career.”

“We thank Maddie for everything she did for this club,” Reign FC head coach Vlatko Andonovski said. “She’s a great player and a great person, and we wish her the best of luck.”
