Seattle Reign FC has waived Scottish international defender Rachel Corsie.

Corsie signed with Reign FC prior to the 2015 NWSL season from Notts County in England. She joined a squad that had celebrated an epic shield-winning season in 2014, but was still eager to prove itself and capture the championship trophy that proved so elusive during the club’s second campaign.

Corsie started in 14 matches during the 2015 season, featuring in a defense that gave up just 21 goals over the 20-match season. Corsie added two goals on the way to a second-consecutive NWSL Shield and appearance in the NWSL Championship Match.

In 2016 Corsie appeared in 12 matches, starting 11. The team managed a league-record five-straight shutouts in the middle of the season and ended the year conceding just 21 goals for the second-straight season. In 2017 Corsie played in 14 matches, starting 12.

“Rachel was a special player for this club and will be missed,” said Reign FC owner Bill Predmore. “Rachel played a role in some of the club’s biggest moments and has been a part of many special memories in and around the club. It is difficult to see her go, but she departs with our appreciation and deepest respect for all she contributed to the organization.”
