Last night, Reign FC’s newest player landed in the Emerald City and we took a quick snapshot of her holding her snazzy new home kit to celebrate the occasion.

“Seattle is beautiful and the weather has been great,” said Veje of her recent arrival. “I am very excited to meet the team when they return from their road trip.”

In case you need a reminder, Reign FC signed Veje in January of this year. The Danish international most recently played for Brøndby IF of Denmark’s Elitedivisionen and helped them win the league title for the 2014/2015 season.

Brøndby also progressed to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League before being eliminated by German powerhouse and eventual tournament champions 1. FFC Frankfurt.

“I have had my eye on Katrine for many years, having first seen her when I was an assistant coach with the U-17 England squad,” said Reign FC general manager and coach Laura Harvey at the time of the signing back in January. “We played Denmark in the Euros and Katrine, who was probably 15 or 16 at the time, had a remarkable game and showed great promise.”

“Since then I have followed her career closely and think this will be a great next step for her growth as a player, “Harvey added. “We believe she is capable of bringing something new and special to our club and to the NWSL.”

Prior to Brøndby IF, Veje was a member of LdB FC Malmö (now FC Rosengård) of Sweden’s Damallsvenskan, she made 48 appearances and scored eight goals. Veje solidified the midfield and helped lead FC Malmö to two league titles in 2011 and 2013.

The Fredericia, Denmark native is also a member of the Danish National Team. Since her first cap in 2009 she has amassed 65 caps, six goals, and recently took part in Denmark’s UEFA qualifying campaign for the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

Veje will be available to play as early as July 11 when Reign FC takes on Western New York Flash. This match will also see the return of U.S. Women’s National Team stars Hope Solo and Megan Rapinoe. Tickets are still available here so come give Veje a big #SeattleLove welcome while saying hello again to Hope and Pinoe.
