User Search and Trust Scoring
Today, I am very pleased to offer user search and trust scoring in Rein.
Since we added five-star ratings a couple of versions ago, we’ve been looking for the best way to surface these ratings to make freelancing through Rein as safe and efficient as possible.
Toward that goal, user search now allows you to find users by their name, contact info, master Bitcoin address, and Secure Identity Number. In search results, you can easily see ratings and a trust score based on who you’ve done business with before.
The following additional features are now available with your download of v0.3.2-beta of Python-rein:
- Addresses are now linked to the block explorer of your choice, making it easy to see if escrow addresses are funded and confirmed.
- Usernames are linked to profiles enabling quick navigation of the trust graph.
- The new trust score is based on your links to other users. This was modeled closely after Bitcoin OTC’s web of trust. We’re testing whether users find it useful in addition to being able to see raw ratings information.
- A new profile page displays ratings received, contact and identity info.
The initial versions of Rein were all about the basic functionality for multisig escrows and creating a prototype for decentralized server infrastructure. With with this update, we have shifted toward building out great user experiences. From here we look forward to some interesting backend work, even better usability, and making the system available on more platforms.
