How Robotics are Changing the Food Industry
Robotics have been getting a lot of buzz the past couple of years. However, in our opinion, we feel that one sector of robotics has not received enough. The food industry is booming with robotics and for good reason. They are changing the way we approach the entire market — with surprising results. Check out just a few areas that robotics are revolutionizing the food industry.
Agriculture
Robotics are changing the way we grow food. We are utilizing robots to do everything from planting and harvesting all the way down to analyzing crop growth. Ground rovers are being deployed to check on the growth of plants and autonomous equipment is harvesting the fully grown plants at the peak of their growth. The industry is booming and optimizing the way we approach farming.
Productivity
Retrieving food from the ground is not the only way robotics are shaping the food industry. Robots have taken over certain job duties humans did, with better results. For instance, robots in kitchen restaurants are more productive than their human counterparts. Robots do not require breaks or time off. They continue to deliver the same output hour after hour.
Consistency
Robotics are also helping the food industry reduce waste. They are consistent, so the exact amount of ingredients is used over and over again. Never again will a food product have too much, or too little, of any ingredient.
Quality
In conjunction with the last point about consistency, robotics are also helping the quality of food. Recipes and programmed processes can be tweaked and the repeated over and over with the same outcome each and every time. Food is never over or under cooked when robotics are involved!
Robotics are shaking up the food industry in a huge way! We are seeing everything from automated chefs to robot operated, froyo vending machines like our very own Reis & Irvy’s. The future of robotics is bright and their relationship with food will continue to grow.
