According to a number of recent studies, middle-aged men in the US are increasingly less likely to be employed.

This appears to be particularly true for male workers in middle-skilled routine manual jobs who find it difficult to transition into other types of jobs as technology, automation and globalisation reduce demand in the US for such workers.
