Last week I was honored to break ground at the new Medical Center of America’s (MCA) VA Mental Health Clinic in El Paso. I’m so proud of the work we did as a community to bring this new facility to El Paso and get our veterans the care they deserve.

“Officials with the [VA] health care system, the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation and U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke gathered near Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso on Wednesday to mark the start of construction on the $16 million mental health clinic.”

· Scheduled completion date: September 2019

· Location: Medical Center of the Americas campus in South-Central El Paso

· Size: 33,000 square feet

· Cost: roughly $16 million

· General programs to be offered at clinic: general mental health; psychological assessments; individual, family; couples and group therapy, evidence-based psychotherapy; PTSD/depression/anxiety and other disorder programs; medication evaluation; medication management

· Specialty programs to be offered at clinic: monitored treatment program; substance use disorders program; and post-traumatic stress disorder

· Planned staff for clinic: More than 160 psychiatrists, tele-psychiatrists, psychologists, tele-psychologists, peer specialists, additional therapists, social workers and residents from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center El Paso
