It’s Time to Bring the DREAM Act to a Vote
Earlier this week, I signed a petition to bring the DREAM Act to a vote. It’s not just time; it’s long overdue.
This bipartisan legislation would protect between 1.2 million and 1.8 million DREAMers, allow them to work legally, and continue to strengthen the country they call home. I’ve long believed that protecting DREAMers is a top priority. They are just as American as my three kids. They study in school, lead productive and successful careers, serve in our military, and are a critical piece of the fabric of our society.
I urge my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to have an open and productive debate about the DREAM Act because we must permanently protect DREAMers living in El Paso, throughout Texas, and across America.
That begins by considering H.R. 3440.
