Vote Explanation for the House of Representatives passed the Ensuring Removal of Terminated Providers from Medicaid and CHIP Act (H.R. 3716)
3/2/2016
Today the House of Representatives passed the Ensuring Removal of Terminated Providers from Medicaid and CHIP Act (H.R. 3716).
This bill does three major things:
— Require that states notify the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) of health care providers who are terminated from state’s Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for fraud.
— Require HHS to keep and maintain a database of these disreputable health care providers to help prevent them from taking part in another state’s Medicaid or CHIP program.
— Require each state to publish an online directory of health and dental care providers which accept Medicaid to help recipients more easily find a provider.
These reforms will help cut down on tax dollar waste, help stop disreputable health care providers and make sure citizens get important information about where they can receive health care. I voted for this bill which passed with overwhelming support from both Republicans and Democrats.
