Voted “Yes” on H.R. 240

GOOD NEWS — We were able to break through the impasse in Congress and get a full fiscal year of funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today. I just voted yes on a measure that passed 257–167. That means that United States Border Patrol, Immigration and TSA agents, Customs officers, and everyone else at DHS will have certainty and a paid salary for the remainder of the fiscal year (through September 30, after which DHS should be funded at the same time as the rest of the federal budget going forward). To all those who work the toughest of jobs in the most trying conditions — please know that this community and this country are grateful for your work and the sacrifices that you and your families make.
