Serving North Country Families
As a Member of Congress, my most important job is to advocate on your behalf. Our offices in Glens Falls, Watertown, Plattsburgh, and Washington — as well as our Mobile Office — are here to assist you in any way that we can.
I wanted to take a moment to tell you about some of the services we offer families across our district.
Working with federal agencies can be a difficult process, and our offices are here to help. If you are not getting the answers or services you need from a federal agency — whether it is the Veterans Administration, the Social Security Administration, or any other — our staff is pleased to assist.
Altogether, our offices have assisted over 2,000 individuals across the district, helping to recover more than $450,000 in Social Security benefits and over $900,000 in VA benefits.
If you are in need of our assistance, please contact my offices here.
As your Representative in Congress, I prioritize working within our community to navigate the federal grants process. Securing federal funding can be an arduous and complicated task, which is why my office is ready to assist.
I was pleased to release this streamlined grants guide to make it simpler for North Country organizations to navigate the process of applying for critical funding for local projects.
Working with organizations that have reached out to our offices, I have written 145 letters of support for grants across the district, and we have researched funding for 167 different individuals.
My office has been able to help organizations across our district secure necessary funding. We have also helped fire departments across the district apply for FEMA’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant to upgrade much needed safety equipment.
My website has a host of information on the grant process; contact one of my district offices for more information and for assistance.
Our region is home to many bright young minds, and one of the highest honors I have is to nominate young men & women to our nation’s Military Service Academies.
Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: the U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, New York; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, Maryland; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, New York. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, Connecticut, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
Candidates for one of our nation’s military academies must have a strong academic background, be physically fit and display excellent leadership potential. Interested students may visit here for more information on the application process.
If you are planning a trip to our nation’s capital, my office can help arrange tours of some of the local sites and attractions — including tours of the White House and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Tickets for each site are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be reserved months in advance.
My office can also arrange private, staff-led tours of the United States Capitol where you’ll be able to walk through the halls of Congress and possibly sit in on a session of the House of Representatives. I am proud that my office has given over 170 Capitol tours to families visiting from across the district.
Visit my website for more information on arranging tours of the Capitol, White House or other Washington, D.C. sites.
Since 1937, Members of Congress have been able to fly flags over the U.S. Capitol to commemorate special life events, holidays and milestones for their constituents. My office can arrange these special flags be flown as a service to you for a small fee — in all, we have helped constituents obtain over 140 flags marking events such as retirements, births, military promotions and anniversaries.
If you would like to have a flag flown over the Capitol in honor of a special milestone or achievement, please reach out to my office for assistance. Flags are available in different sizes and fabrics and all come with a special Certificate of Authenticity that can be personalized with a unique message. For more information on the Capitol Flag program or to order a flag flown over the Capitol visit here.
As your Representative in Congress, I’ve made it my priority to be open and accountable to you and my offices stand ready to assist in any way. Do not hesitate to reach out to see how we can be of service and be sure to look out for my mobile district office that brings our constituent service operations to a town near you!
