Technology as we know it is playing a huge and significant role in how the world is being shaped. Africa as a continent is definitely not taking a back seat in this regard. Over the last few years, we have seen tremendous growth in the ecosystem: more tech-driven communities have been developed, more startups have been founded, more capital has been raised and some early success stories have been reported. We believe this is a great indication of the future, especially if Africa intends to overcome the many challenges she has.

However, we believe there are still some great talents who are not in tech. People still don’t have access to resources, network, best practices, know-how, and mentorship to get started in tech, either by joining or founding a startup. More so, women are largely affected by the lack of diversity in the tech community. In essence, there’s no easy on-ramp to get into the tech community, and for most people, the “tech ecosystem” is still a mystery. We intend to solve this by making the African tech ecosystem more inclusive.

We are super excited to introduce Resplash; an experimental initiative committed to empowering future leaders by awarding scholarships and mentorship opportunities to talented individuals interested in learning how to code, design and potentially join or found a world-class tech startup.

The goal is to support, encourage, and empower the next generation of developers, designers, founders, and world leaders who want to create positive change and solve the numerous problems on the continent using technology.

Our first project is called the Resplash Leadership Program; an intensive 3-month online course with two (2) tracks — a coding curriculum and a startup curriculum. Each fellow will be paired with a technical mentor who can code, and a business mentor with operating experience in tech, to support them as they journey through the program.

The first scholarship cycle will award up to forty (40) scholarships to talented and dynamic women with the potential to succeed in the tech industry. This offer is not limited to women who plan to start startups but is open to any woman across Africa who wants to join a tech startup or is curious about coding.

Applications are presently open and close on April 30th by 11:59 pm GMT.
