Facebook Prospecting Gone Wrong…

If you are a internet marketer…..and if you are reading this, I assume that you are…then I am sure that you have used Facebook prospecting to attempt to grow your business. Facebook is filled with online business owners looking to add recruits, make sales, grow email list…etc..

That’s the good news…

Here’s the bad news…

Most marketers have no idea what they are doing on Facebook when it comes to prospecting. In fact, they turn social media into a spam-fest!

You know what I mean….

Just take a look at the average marketers Facebook page and you’ll see post after post of unattractive links and empty promises. Folks get into a new business opportunity and think to themselves:

“You know what would be a good idea? I should post about my business…..over and over again.”

Hoping that their friends will just see their “life-altering” biz opp, click on that ugly link of theirs, credit card in hand and join them.

As sad as that may sound….that’s not the worse offense these marketers make.

The WORSE things people do happen happen privately.

Isn’t it such a joy to get a notification from someone…thinking, “hey…somebody wants to connect with me”…only to see this:

Or this…

Or…….even this…

That last one……I mean, WTF does that even mean?? What am I reading?!?!?!

The screenshots above are weak prospecting attempts from people who haven’t yet figured out that building a business is not about tricking people or finding the right copy/paste FB messages to send to strangers.

Why Your Facebook Prospecting Sucks!

If I could sum it up in one word…….Selfishness

The reason why most marketers fail is because they put themselves first before the person they are facebook prospecting to. Their main objective is to get as many signups as possible. Or they focus on making tons of sales for themselves.

Now….I know..I know…..Isn’t the goal of any marketer to get signups and make sales???

Yes…..and no.

The end game is to grow your team and make money…..

But making money should only be a byproduct of your marketing efforts.

The goal ALWAYS should be to provide….VALUE to people. Nothing more….nothing less. Click To Tweet

I can’t blame most marketers for these infractions though. They were taught these methods by lazy, uninterested uplines who don’t take time to properly prepare their people to market the right way. Either because they don’t know how, themselves, or they don’t care. It’s easier for them to tell their downlines to copy and paste some long, drawn out message to their family and friends than it is to engage and help people.

If that’s you…..Upline or Downline…..just STOP IT!

Top 5 Signs That Your Facebook Prospecting Efforts are Actually SPAM

1) Your initial private message to a stranger includes a link to join your opportunity.

2) You get angry replies via private messaging and/or you have been reported as spam.

3) You post links to your opportunity or website in the comments section of other people’s posts…( I hate that!)

4) You repeatedly talk about your company or products, without anyone asking you to share it.

Finally… #5….the most disturbing….

5) You engage in interactions online, with a hidden agenda, hoping to transition to something that would get people interested in your opportunity, without really caring about knowing the other person.

People don’t realize that they are actually hurting their business instead of helping. These methods usually turn people off and you end up losing credibility.

Instead….Adapt Attraction Marketing

There is a better way to go about using Facebook to grow your business….The Attraction Marketing model. I wrote about this in more detail HERE… How Attraction Marketing Works

But in a nutshell, attraction marketing is the method which we connect with our prospects not to sell to them, but to help them solve problems they may have in their business. Doing this does a few things:

One…it helps a person with their business.

Two…it puts you in a position of an expert.

Three…you build trust which makes it easier for a person to want to buy from you.

For me, when I learned to stop “selling” and start providing VALUE to people, it made things a whole lot easier for me and my business.

Instead of trying to jam my product and services down people’s throats, I engaged with people, found out what difficulties they were having in their business and offered solutions.

What I found is that I attracted people to me. This method allows people to chase me down for advice and to see what I am doing instead of chasing down people begging them to buy from me.

Rather than spending hours spamming or PM’ing, learn how to legitimately get Facebook and other networks to actually help attract the people who are most interested in what you have to offer.

This is the ‘attraction marketing’ strategy, that is designed for networkers and people in direct sales.

If your business depends on you sending private messages or commenting on people’s posts all day, you are NOT doing internet marketing right… despite what others make you believe.

Attraction marketing is a passive strategy, which works, even when you are not.

If you want to learn how it works, the entire strategy I’ve been using for

my business is revealed in a FREE 10-Day Online Recruiting Bootcamp available here.

There is nothing wrong with traditional facebook prospecting or offline prospecting. But learn how to properly prospect instead of just spamming.

For me, there was simply a certain way I wanted run my business more effectively .

Wouldn’t it be better to make a ton of money in you business first and then have your friends and family beg you to tell them more about it??

It’s much better than begging your friends and family to join a business which isn’t making any money.

Don’t you agree??

I thought so…..

To your success
