Polygon and Return launch a campaign for the Polygon community to take individual climate action

Return, Polygon Labs and Nori are excited to announce a new collaboration with the Polygon community and ecosystem. This is an opportunity for individuals to take climate action alongside one of the biggest and most established Layer 2’s around.
In April 2022, Polygon Labs announced their Green Manifesto, a Smart Contract with Planet Earth, that commits to eliminating all of the network’s carbon debt going back to inception and then going carbon negative in 2022. As web3 emerges as a key technology layer, the perception of its environmental impacts need to be overcome to truly achieve mass adoption. This is something that Polygon Labs has taken incredibly seriously.
As the Polygon protocol takes new and exciting strides towards accelerating their carbon negative efforts in 2023, Polygon Labs wants to include individuals and communities in this impactful journey, which is where Return comes in.
Starting from 2nd March 2023, members of the Polygon community will be able to take individual climate action on the Return platform to be a part of this new and exciting campaign for the planet. All climate action taken will be on the Polygon PoS blockchain, which has already achieved carbon neutrality, meaning all impact made by community members will be additional to these existing actions.
For a limited time, Polygon community members that take individual climate action via the Return platform will receive an exclusive Polygon skin NFT to apply on their newly created Impact Identity, which is a Soulbound Token. This skin represents your commitment to the planet and support of Polygon’s Green Manifesto.
The money that is contributed to climate action by individuals will be pooled together and deployed alongside Polygon Labs to be directed towards three climate projects, starting with Nori Carbon Removal Tonnes (NRTs).
This skin will be the first in a series of three that will launch over time to support the overall Polygon Labs campaign.
