AARP Feeds Hungry Seniors

Working in education for nearly four decades, Rey Mayoral began his career has a PE instructor at Stevenson Junior High School and continued on to serve in a number of instructional and administrative roles. Now retired from public education, Rey Mayoral maintains membership in the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

Each year, the AARP Foundation holds a meal pack challenge in Washington, D.C., to help get food in the hands of seniors who are going hungry or don’t have access to lower-cost generic foods where they live. This year, the foundation decided to increase its efforts and bring meal packing operations to four cities as part of a new Summer Service to Seniors program.

Along with Washington, D.C., events were held in Denver, Memphis, and Minneapolis-St. Paul. All told, AARP saw some 4 million meals packed and put into the hands of seniors who need them. For more information, visit www.aarp.org/aarp-foundation.
