“Almost everything–all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure–these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” ~ Steve Jobs
Should you get up a day, today, and be told today is the last day you have to live, what would you do?
Would you go to work as usual? Would you pay your bills? Would you worry about the ones not paid? Would you concern yourself with purchases?
What exactly would you do?
Pause for a moment and truly think about it.
No I am not trying to be ominous, or encourage you to focus only on dying…though we should from time to time, since we are all going to die at some point.
The point of this question is to show you time waits on no one.
Regardless of race, economic status, education, religion ,we are all faced with limited time. We don’t know when will be our last day.
So why live as if we will exist for eternity?
If there are dreams and goals you wish to fulfill, why continue to wait for the right time.
The right time may never come if we keep waiting. Like the Nike tagline “Just do it” might I add NOW.
How many of us thought that when we heard of the year 2020, it seemed like such a distant time in the future? Yet here we are now in 2020 and facing all that the year has presented thus far.
Before you know it, the year 2030 will arrive.
Make this new decade count, don’t live in fear, attempt that business, that return to school, that new career, whatever it might be…because NOW is all you have.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~ Mark Twain
