Learning curve

Most artists think that they suck.

So stop worrying about it.

“My art sucks”
“I am not good enough”
“I will never be as good as [insert personal hero here]”

These are all common thoughts that artists have to go through when they start creating. If you feel that you are the only artist (graphic artist, writer, performer…) that is going through this situation then let me tell you something.

You are not the only one

All the greatest artists of all time have gone through this phase at some point in their life. They weren’t born with awesome skills. It was their perseverance, passion and (most important) patience what made them as good as they are. Remember:

“Rome was not build in a day”

It is very easy to think that what you are producing is not that good. It is easier to fall into the mental loop of believing that you suck and that is the way things are always going to be. This can be the first draft of your book or the first strokes on a canvas.

The thing to notice is that your first couple of tries are probably not going to be that good, in fact they may even suck, and that’s ok. It is a part of the learning curve.

I am writing this brief post to tell you that if you think that you are not good enough is ok. Eventually you will get better.

You just need to put in the hours. Believe me, it becomes easier.

I will let you with an image of Jake the Dog just to brighten up your day.
