In the world of today’s music vibes, StoneBridge’s remix game is next level! The StoneBridge Mix of the epic techno banger “Mama India [Reloaded]” just dropped like a bomb and rocketed straight into the Official U.K. Music Week Chart Top 30, making it a massive hit in just one week. This is just another legendary chapter in the incredible journey of the one and only Swedish DJ extraordinaire, StoneBridge. Don’t miss out on this electrifying news! EDM, an abbreviation for Electronic Dance Music, represents an expansive array of electronic music genres that found their genesis in the fervor of nightclubs, extravagant raves, and electrifying festivals, igniting the nocturnal scene.

During the late 1980s and early 1990s, subsequent to the emergence of raving, pirate radio broadcasts, PartyCrews, subterranean festivals, and a surge in fascination with club culture, EDM gained conspicuous prominence within the European landscape. Nevertheless, rave culture did not achieve commensurate popularity within the United States, predominantly confined to regional hubs such as New York City, Florida, the Midwest, and California. Electro and Chicago house music, influential on both European and American fronts, remained ostracized by mainstream media and the music industry. A perceived nexus between EDM and drug culture prompted state and municipal authorities to enact legislative measures aimed at quelling the proliferation of rave culture.

Subsequently, in the nascent millennium, EDM’s appeal experienced a global upswing, notably in the United States and Australia. By the early 2010s, the American music industry and music journalism endeavored to rebrand American rave culture by championing the terminology “electronic dance music” and the acronym “EDM.” However, despite these endeavors, the initialism persists as an overarching label encompassing a multitude of genres, including dance-pop, house, techno, electro, and trance, alongside their respective subgenres.

The Official Charts Company (OCC), formerly known as the Chart Information Network (CIN) and the Official UK Charts Company, operates as a British inter-professional entity responsible for compiling various official record charts spanning the United Kingdom, Ireland, and France. In the United Kingdom, the OCC’s comprehensive charts encompass singles, albums, and cinematic releases, with data collated from a blend of digital downloads, physical media acquisitions, and streaming activity. The OCC generates its charts by amassing and amalgamating sales data from retailers via the services of market research firm Kantar, striving to encompass 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, extending data collection to retailers vending more than 100 chart items weekly.

The OCC functions as a joint venture between the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA), formerly the British Association of Record Dealers (BARD). As a privately held company, the OCC’s shares are jointly owned by BPI and ERA. CIN undertook the mantle of official UK chart compilers in 1990, subsequently transitioning into the OCC in 1994. Prior to this era, diverse market research companies, commencing with the British Market Research Bureau (BMRB) in 1969 and Gallup in 1983, oversaw chart production. Preceding the establishment of the “official” charts, several less comprehensive charts existed, notably New Musical Express (NME) magazine’s early singles chart, which has now been integrated into the official OCC catalog.

The Billboard Hot 100 stands as the preeminent music industry benchmark for song rankings in the United States, published weekly by Billboard magazine. Chart rankings hinge on a trifecta of metrics encompassing sales (both physical and digital), online streaming, and radio airplay within the U.S.

A new chart is compiled and disseminated to the public through the Billboard website on Tuesdays, though the date of publication is retroactively set to the following Saturday when the printed magazine graces newsstands. The current weekly tracking period for sales extends from Friday to Thursday, a transition effected in July 2015, having initially spanned from Monday to Sunday when Nielsen commenced sales tracking in 1991. This same tracking timeframe also applies to the compilation of online streaming data. Radio airplay data, unlike sales and streaming statistics, is accessible in real-time but is subject to the Friday-to-Thursday tracking cycle, a shift instituted in the chart dated July 17, 2021. Formerly, radio airplay was monitored from Monday to Sunday and, prior to July 2015, from Wednesday to Tuesday. The inaugural chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100 was “Poor Little Fool” by Ricky Nelson, reigning on August 4, 1958. As of the issue dated September 16, 2023, the Billboard Hot 100 has witnessed 1,155 distinct number-one entries. Presently, the chart is dominated by “Paint the Town Red” by Doja Cat, claiming the top position.
