(Dame) Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg, DBE, born on the 20th of July 1938, is an English actress who has gained fame through her extensive career in film, television and on stage. She became known particularly for her roles in the television series “The Avengers” and “Game of Thrones.”

So how much is Rigg’s net worth? As of early 2018, based by NetWorthPost it is reported to be over $10 million, acquired from her years as an actress which began in the 1950s.

Born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, Rigg is the daughter of Beryl Hilda and Louis Rigg. During her younger years, her father worked as a railway engineer causing their family to move to Bikaner, India when her father was employed as a railway executive in the country, and where they stayed for almost eight years, eventually returning home including with the country’s Hindi language.

Diana subsequently studied at a boarding school in Fulneck called Moravian School. She later attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to train as an actress from 1955 to 1957.

Rigg’s career as an actress started out in theater. Her debut was in the production of “The Caucasian Chalk Circle” at the York Festival in 1957, playing the role of Natasha Abashwilli. In 1959 she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, and appeared in a number of productions. In 1971, she made her debut on Broadway in the play “Abelard and Heloise”, earning her a Tony Award nomination for her performance.

Some of Rigg’s notable performances on stage have included “Jumpers” in 1972, “Night and Day” in 1978, “Collete” in 1982, and “Follies” in 1987. In 1992, she joined the production of “Medea” and her performance earned her a Tony Award. Her years on stage helped establish her career as an actress and also her net worth.

Aside from her successful career as a stage actress, Rigg has also had an extensive career in film and on television. She first appeared in the television series “The Avengers”, playing the role of agent Mrs Emma Peel; despite having issues with the production team of the show, she stayed from 1965 until 1968. She also had a short-lived sitcom in the US from 1973 to 1974 entitled “Diana.”

In 1969, Rigg made her debut on the big screen playing Tracy Bond in the movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”, the only girl to become James Bond’s wife. Other films that she appeared on during the early years of her career include “The Assassination Bureau” in 1969, “The Hospital” in 1971, and “In This House of Brede” in 1975.

During the ’80s, Rigg went back to television and appeared in “The Marquise” and “Hedda Gabler”. In 1982, she received praise for her performance in the film “Evil Under the Sun”, sharing the screen with Maggie Smith. In 1989, her performance in “Mother Love” for BBC earned her a BAFTA for Best Television Actress.

From 1989 to 2003, Rigg also hosted the television series entitled “Mystery” that was broadcast by PBS.

During the early 2000s, Rigg went back on stage and appeared in a series of productions, such as in “Suddenly Last Summer” in 2004, “Honour” in 2006, and “All About My Mother in 2007. Later in she also graced the stage in “The Cherry Orchard” in 2008, “Hay Fever” in 2009, and “Pygmalion” playing the role of Mrs Higgins in 2011.

Rigg’s career in television received a revival when she joined the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” in its third season in 2013, playing the sarcastic Lady Olenna Tyrell known as the Queen of Thorns until the seventh season, even gaining her a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series in 2013 and 2014. Her years in theater, film and television tremendously increased her net worth.

In terms of her personal life, Rigg made waves during the early years of her career for living with director Philip Saville for eight years in the 1960s. In 1973, she then married Israeli painter Menachem Gueffen but they divorced in 1976. In 1982, she wed theatrical producer Archibald Stirling and together they have one daughter, Rachel, but their marriage ended in divorce in 1990, since when she has remained officially single.

Aside from her accolades as an actress, Riggs has also received honorary degrees from the University of Stirling in 1988 and the University of Leeds in 1992. She was also made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1998, and later on became a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1994.
