The Night Before The Journey …….continues

Three days ago,I signed up to my third marathon.I want to say it happened on a whimsical moment during a lunch break at work.It didn’t.

2001,I signed on to run the London Marathon as part of a dare/wind up at work,”I bet you couldn’t do it…..” I did.

In 2013,I signed on the re-do that run in 2014.I was training hard until I picked up an old injury in my calf that saw me bouncing between the physio’s bench and the Spinning® bike, finding any running movement impossible until 10 days before the race.I managed 2 practice runs in the week leading up to the event and they were only to break in new running shoes!

I managed to run the first 10 miles with minimal effort and I was able to complete the event with far less pain than I should have.

Ever since,I have said to myself that I have one more marathon in me.My knees are not good,my back is not the healthiest it could be (it never will be healthy) and I am scared of this mountain that I have placed in front of me,but I have placed it there and I can either run over it,around it or tear it down but one way or another,I will put this monster to rest.

In 2001,I managed 6:07:51 & in 2014,I achieved 5:38:19.If I can get to the start line,I can finish 2017 happy but IF I get to the start line with a good year of injury-free training behind me,I WANT to cross the finish line in 4:59:59 or faster.I would be capable of that time but life does not always go according to plan.Everything happens for a reason.

April 9….. Just Bring It!
