Nice article, I agree with its solution. I don’t think that it takes away from anything I — or Paul — have said. I also struggle to see how it could be implemented in a general election for example, one thought would be that we don’t vote for candidates, we vote for policies that are most important to us, which I think would be fantastic for society. However, I have one slight concern about the lessons learned from the bee analogy. Whereas its author sites self-interest as the key to its success, that is very much a contrived conclusion. It could equally be suggested that the bee scouts were acting in the best interest of its colony (or species). Indeed, if that were a human coming across a gush of oil for example, they would quickly assume the rights to all the oil and seek profit for themselves immediately — it’s interesting that this bee’s first thought was of the rest of the colony, which is exactly as it should be. The bee should indeed be congratulated and rewarded for his excellent work.
