the widening gyre of anti-authoritarianism is a direct result of the inherently obvious and yet unnarrated schism between what is happening and what is being done about it. This attempt at narration was the sole driving force behind Bernie Sander’s populist explosion, though his message was critically witheld from the 55+ crowd who extracts their information primarily from network news. As Bernie famously said to CNN, “we are talking about the collapse of the middle class. . .are you guys going to talk about that?”
The levers of democracy have become completely coopted by the totalitarians structures of unmitigated corporate power and our economy, livelihood and environmental habitability have been placed in the balance and found wanting. In a new era of climate change-driven catastrophe, that has already been locked-in, without a truly representational government at had, what we are seeing is a combination of premature enlightenment and a precursor of the abject panic and revolt that is yet to come.
