Organizing New Japanese Startup Conference
I am proud to be a part of the If Conference organizing team as well as the Japan NYC Startups team. The idea of the conference was created back in June 2015 with key players of what later became If Conference. Since then we’ve worked very hard to put our conference together, and have received tremendous support from New York City, San Francisco Bay Area and Japan. I can’t thank everyone who has been involved in this journey enough.
Our goal is to introduce startups from Japan, Japanese entrepreneurs in US to New York City tech community. If you haven’t joined Japan NYC Startups’ (http://www.meetup.com/Japan-NYC-Startups/) regular events, If Conference is a great introduction to our community.
Another goal is to attract Japanese startups to NY. There is a lack of information in Japan about NYC tech scene despite the fact that NYC is the second largest technology city in the world. Through this conference, we want to change Japan’s perception of NYC and create a better environment for new Japanese entrepreneurs to start their business here.
We’re not the only international startup community in NYC. There are others that also contributing to the NYC tech ecosystem. Our community partner, Gori Social (gorisocial.com) has held two Korean Startup Summits in NYC. Ramphis Castro wrote in his TechCrunch article,
“Those active in New York City’s startup industry know international entrepreneurs and companies seriously contribute to the city’s tech ecosystem. They’re hosting events, making investor introductions and providing new business opportunities to younger company counterparts, so the new global entrepreneurs will flourish and progress the city.”
So the time is now! I encourage you to join our international startup community and support New York as a technology hub. If Conference tickets are reasonably priced at $20 (Students and entrepreneurs: $10). Let’s shape the future of NYC together!
