pfft, I tried to see the positive side of this and not complain right away, but after a bit of browsing it just doesn’t gel, and I just cancelled my A-list subscription because of it.
‘visitors’ was a way to make virtual eye contact, to not have to write someone out of the blue, but only after you had exchanged glances, so you would know that the other had at least seen your profile and could maybe put your words into perspective, rather than setting yourself up for a ruthless rejection by poring your heart out to a stranger who then just ignores you.
also, this new “improvement” will promote the sending of impersonal shorter “hey, how are you?” messages rather than the longer kind that I like receiving (and writing), which was one of the main reasons to be on OKc rather than say on Tinder.
this is a stupid, stupid development, even worse than removing “Who’s New”, search results outside of the comfort zone, or search based upon keywords or dietary preferences (quite important for people with moral believes, allergies or religion based diets).
by trying to be more like Tinder you are going to lose the battle with them.
think different, don’t be a copy cat and just roll back this dumb “feature”.
PS: I’d also appreciate it if you weren’t as condescending as you are in your failed attempt to try and sell this “new feature” as an improvement. your users aren’t that ignorant…
