The recent news on the failure of application passwords to protect consumers is such old news; it is embarrassing. When Ring was a start-up chasing investors and trying to build a new model for security, the lack of Cyber Security was okay and expected. Early adopters and power users understand how to manage the risks and challenges of modern technology.
Here is the problem.
INDUSTRY has invested 20–30 billion dollars in embedded security over 20 years, and the technology is already deployed in the hardware of billions of consumer devices. INTEL, ARM, QUALCOMM, MEDIATEK, SAMSUNG, and even APPLE have invested in embedded security. While Apple chooses not to expose the core of their security for third party use, they are only 15% of global phone sales, and billions of consumers could be offered solutions that would eliminate the theft of credentials by software or even a compromised OS. …
