Seed Stage

Where to go from here

Hey Guys, most of you know the seed stage. You have an idea, draw some sketches, talk to a few people and start the ball rolling-sounds pretty easy right? No - not really. Especially when you have an idea you tend to treat it like an infant and prolong and perfect every single minute detail in the beginning- because who can build an empire on a cracked foundation? So back to the drawing board for Roam Free Clothing. Hundreds of logo ideas, sketchs, hours upon hours of inpirational searchs- it never ends. You start to tweek the finest of details until you cant tell the difference between the pixels anymore, you think your finally done because you’ve looked at the same words for days and you are at the point where you begin to question their correct spelling- thats how obsessed you get. I got to the point where the word “roam” looked like a foreign lanuge to me. Things can become almost unrecognizable when you remove them from their original context and straight lines start to looked curved- thats when you know its time to scrap it and start all over again. This endless process of approaching a problem from many different angles is completely exhausting but also utterly necessary when you are starting up your brand.

So here’s where I am now- weeks into drawings and a hundred illustrator files later. I begin to have a relationship with the process and I can start to see trends occur. The more time Ispend developing a concept, the more invested I become. Its a great way to be but harder to remove yourself and see clearly so its best to bring in losts of other critical views to rattle your way of thinking every now and again.
